The Primitivo Rosso Puglia IGP by Villa Schinosa is a gem of Apulian viticulture, telling the story of a deeply rooted grape variety known for its early ripening. Present in Apulian vineyards since the 18th century, the Primitivo, twin of the Californian and Australian Zinfandel, embodies the power and intensity of Southern Italy. Harvested at the peak of late summer, this wine is developed through careful maceration and fermentation, highlighting its rich blackberry fruit notes and spicy accents. Maturation in Slavonian oak barrels and bottle aging perfect its structure, giving the Primitivo a smooth, harmonious, and complex body. Its deep purple color introduces a captivating taste experience, ideal for pairing with intense dishes such as red meats, game, and aged cheeses, revealing a world of deep and persistent sensations each time. Served at 18°C, after being uncorked a bit in advance, Villa Schinosa’s Primitivo reveals its magnificent expression in full.

VINEYARDS

Trained on trellises with spurred cordon on rich, clayey, and predominantly calcareous soils with a density of 4500 plants per hectare.

VINIFICATION

The harvest takes place between the end of August and the first two weeks of September. Maceration lasts 8-10 days with frequent pumping over for oxygenation and at constant fermentation temperatures.

MATURATION

After a few months in vitrified concrete tanks, the wine matures in 35 hL Slavonian oak barrels. Refinement in the bottle for a period of 3 months before being marketed.

A robust and well-structured wine suitable for accompanying rich and flavorful dishes such as red meats, game, and aged cheeses. It is recommended to uncork it at least 20 minutes before serving, preferably at a temperature of 18°C.
